Why Participate?

  • Statewide Recognition: Winners from across the state will be honored at a special award ceremony
  • Professional Printing: Grand prize winners will have their designs professionally printed
  • Local Pride: A chance to celebrate the hard work and creativity of the students in your school

How to Pitch This to Your Admin

Here are three key talking points to use when speaking with your principal:

  1. Promotes Literacy & School Culture:This isn't just an art project; it's a literacy initiative. It encourages students to reflect on their relationship with reading and the library, fostering a positive "culture of literacy" that is linked to higher student engagement.
  2. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): The contest provides a platform for self-expression and student voice. For many students—especially those who may struggle in traditional testing—this is a high-visibility way to build confidence and feel a sense of belonging within the school.
  3. Low Cost, High Advocacy: The contest is free to enter and requires minimal resources, yet it provides a powerful "PR" opportunity for the school. Having a student from your school win a statewide contest is a "win" for the entire school.
